Create a spooky auto-shooter (horror themed) type of game in Unreal Engine.
The assignment has these minimum requirements:
The assignment has these minimum requirements:
- Players can only control the character's movement. Weapons should shoot automatically.
- Player starts with one default auto-shooting weapon.
- Have 3 different enemy types which get introduced gradually, more types are optional. The enemies have to be differentiated by graphics and amount of health. More differentiation (like mechanics) are optional.
- Game gets progressively harder.
- Player has a health bar and can take a few hits before dying.
- Enemies drop experience, which the player can pick up.
- When the player levels up, they can choose from a selection of power-ups. Have 3 different power-ups, more is optional. Power-ups can be anything, like new auto-shooting weapons, upgrades to them, upgrades to the player themselves, one-off effects, etc.
- The game saves the highest score between sessions.
- You have a lot of freedom in how you implement the game or add to those requirements (not mandatory).
- You're allowed to use Quixel Megascans or Unreal Marketplace assets as long as they're assets only (no code or Blueprint functionality).
- Cite your sources in your code comments if you use code/methods from elsewhere.
- Gameplay mechanics and core logic should be written in C++.
- Don't worry if your art skills aren't great, as art is not the focus here .
- Feel free to break the mold or think outside the box as long as the above minimum requirements are roughly met.
- The submissions will be judged on the top 3 entries
- The judges are the tech leads from the sponsoring studios
- The judges attend a panel discussion where they review the code and share their observations.
- The live session takes place online on 26th October at Games Job Fair Autumn 2023

Clone a Classic
Create a game that puts a new twist on a classic concept. You can recreate a classic game with a new twist, or put a classic twist on a classic game form (i.e. platformer, puzzle, rpg). The game must:

- Have some kind of UI that displays information pertinent to the player experience (health, score, level whatever fits).
- Have a complete gameplay loop (running, game over)
- The submissions will be judged on 3 categories - Best Overall Concept, Best Technical Execution, and Most Creative
- The judges are the tech leads from the sponsoring studios
- The judges attend a panel discussion where they review the code and share their observations
- A live session takes place online on 25th October at Games Job Fair Autumn 2023 to reveal the winners and review their code

- A monetary award
- Recognition Digital Certificate signed by Thomas Winkley and Games Factory Talent
